Three Marker Challenge – Tunacorn

https://youtu.be/YKxCB32H5Ro

Finally a three marker challenge video – I’ve been asked to do it often. In this video I draw a Tunacorn – or my idea of one and colour it in with pink, purple and green – not the most friendly colours!

I said I’d let one person who filled in my questionnaire the chance to choose a video. Mikkel SH was the lucky winner and Mikkel asked me to do a Three Marker Challenge, to draw a fantasy creature in pink purple and green. Well this video is the result – Hope you like it.

Follow me on Patreon and you will also get a pdf with the pencil sketch, so you can practice drawing over the top of it or onto another sheet with a window or light box. Also the finished coloured version and the ink version, so you can try your own hand at colouring in with three marker pens.

How to draw an evil lizard

This is an illustration of an Evil Lizard drawn with pen and ink and a single colour grey watercolour wash to add tone. A great style for black and white illustrated books.

This video is inspired by my Scaredy Cats story video – The Killer Catflap – you can see the video here

How to draw a cute penguin chick

https://youtu.be/nmVJ2-GLEy0

25th April was International Penguin Day so I drew a cute little Penguin Chick. By way of a change, I’m using a pentel Brush pen, which is really black and also waterproof for watercolour painting. I’m still getting to grips with it. So different to drawing with a pen, where you have a solid connection and feedback with the paper. I’ll have to do more videos about it in time.

Illustrating Children’s Books

https://youtu.be/R9o8OLIY4Xw

I’ve just finished page 140 of the Michael Morpurgo book that i’ve been illustrating all this month. That’s the last page – hooray! But then I didn’t like it, so I wanted to do it again.

This video will show you how I copy the illustration I didn’t like and turn it into one I do like.

Also there’s a load of chat about illustrating and techniques.
